A personal case study
Just four weeks ago we were celebrating grandma Julia’s 92nd birthday at her favorite seafood restaurant. I remember talking about her mom, who lived to 98 and her aunt who lived to 105. Then, without warning, she was in and out of hospital, then rehab, then home, then back into the hospital and we were stunned at the words “stage 4 pancreatic cancer” when the doctor told us the news. Days later, she was in hospice, with just days, maybe weeks to live.
We were fortunate that Vitas has a unit right within the hospital at Physicians Regional Medical Center. While we knew that there were a lot of people behind the scenes, the hospice social worker shared with us a link for a new service provided by one of their partners, Enclara. I had never heard of them, but you can bet when this is all over, the CEO will be hearing from me. And not just about the peaceful way that Julia passed, free from pain because of the masterful selection of the pharmaceuticals that would make those last days much easier for all of us, but because she texted me a link to share with Michael’s brother Bob and Julia’s 89 year old sister, Ida. They would both want to come and say their goodbyes and the smart travel tool was easy enough for Ida to use to find a hotel nearby. Some of the cousins were close enough to drive, but would need an economical place to stay. Ida would no doubt bring her son Paul to travel with her and we wouldn’t have to divert our attention to playing travel agent. We wanted to enjoy every last day with her and now we can.
Customize and install your first smart trip tool in just minutes. We recommend you start with a Venue tool for your headquarters. Then schedule a call with us and we’ll help you roll out to your 500 hospice partners.
They even gave us a magnet for our refrigerator at home, so we could have the info if anyone else called and needed to plan their trip.
Once a loved one is in hospice, if friends and family come to visit, there is often nowhere for them to stay but in a hotel. By integrating the TripProximity widget into your website, you can share the page location those coming to visit. You make life easier for the family during a difficult time and your team saves time answering “where should I stay?”
The TripProximity widget can replace your existing map tool or static driving directions. Those coming for a visit can book hotel, flight or get dynamic driving directions to your location. Those coming do not have to remember your address. The widget pre-populates your location automatically.
With TripProximity, every trip can matter to the charities you support. A percentage of the proceeds from travel bookings made on your site are given to your charity of choice annually.
The TripProximity widget conforms to the HTML container added to your site. Choosing a location near customers’ decision points creates greater value for you.
It is easy and we are here to help. Just set up a call with our founder and CEO, Chicke Fitzgerald and our VP of Business Development, Terri Buker and we’ll talk about how we can help get you started. It takes literally hours, not days, weeks or months and you begin to benefit right away.
